Day1  Arrival at Lhasa & Acclimation

Upon your arrival at the Lhasa airport or train station, you will be greeted by your Tibetan guide and escorted to your hotel in Lhasa. It only takes about a half an hour for the drive from the airport to the city center of Lhasa via the Lhasa-Gonggar Airport Highway. Along the way you will be able to enjoy the spectacular scenery along the Brahmaputra River. You will have the rest of the afternoon or evening (depending upon your arrival time) to rest, relax and become acclimatized to the higher altitude of Tibet.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Day2  Lhasa Tour - Potala Place, Johkang Temple, Barkhor Street

Today we will start off with the fantastic Potala Palace, which historically served as the winter home of the Dalai Lama. It was first used in the 7th century by the 33rd king of Tibet. The most valuable collections in the Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of the former Dalai Lamas and the meditation cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet. After lunch, we will move on to the Jokhang Temple, which was also founded in the 7th century by the 33rd great king of Tibet to promote the Buddhist religion. Inside you can see the statue of the Buddha Sakyamuni as he was at the age of twelve - this is perhaps the most venerated object in Tibetan Buddhism. Around the temple is Barkhor Street where you can perform the "Kora" (a religious circuit around a sacred building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals. The Barkhor market is also a great place to pick up locally made handicrafts and souvenirs.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Day3  Lhasa Tour - Drepung and Sera Monastery

This morning we will visit the Drepung Monastery - one of the great three Gelug monasteries of Tibet. Founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge, on Tosngkhapa's main disciples, the Drepung Monastery is home of Ganden Palace, which formerly served as the Dalai Lama's palace before later moving on to the Potala Palace. In the afternoon we will move on to see another of the great three of the Gelug monasteries in Tibet - the Sera Monastery. Founded in 1419 by another main disciple of Tsongkhapa, Jamchen Chojey, the main attraction of this monastery is the lively scene of the monks debating Buddhist scriptures in the courtyard behind the monastery in the afternoon.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Day4  Bike from Lhasa to Damxung (155km)

Today's schedule features a long bike ride of approximately 155 kilometers along the Qinghai-Tibet highway to our eventual destination of Damxung. The road is smooth and well maintained so it makes for a pleasant day of biking. We will stopover in Yangpachen to have lunch and rest for a while before riding on to Damxung to spend the night.

Accommodation:Overnight at local Guest House

Day5  Bike from Damxung to Namtso (75km)

Today we will have a challenging but beautiful ride with the Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges appearing in front of you all along the way. The most difficult part of today's ride is the climbing of the Mt. Nagenla Pass with its 5190-meter elevation, but we will have a 4-wheel drive vehicle at the ready to take you and your bike up and over the mountain pass if necessary. After conquering the mountain pass, you will see the sheepherders' tents, green grasslands, herds of sheep and yaks, and the tents of nomads alongside the road. Finally we will reach the incredibly beautiful Namtso Lake - a heavenly lake known as one of the three holy lakes of Tibet and also as the world's highest salt lake. Situated at an elevation of 5000 meters, Namtso Lake lies on the highest plateau in the world. We'll enjoy a memorable stay at the lakeshore tonight.

Accommodation:Overnight at local Guest House

Day6  Bike from Namtso to Yangpachen (123km)

While enjoying the beautifully clear morning at the lakeshore, you can trek along the shoreline to Tashi Dor Island to explore the meditation caves. After a morning of exploration, we'll begin the journey back to Lhasa with a bike ride to Yangpachen, where we can relax in the natural hot spring before retiring for the night.

Accommodation:Overnight at local Guest House

Day7  Bike from Yangpachen to Lhasa (75km)

Today we will enjoy the final leg of our bike tour as we ride back to Lhasa from Yangpachen. We will be on the same highway as before, and we'll have plenty of opportunities to stop for photos. After arriving back in Lhasa you will have free time the rest of the afternoon and evening to relax and enjoy your final night in Tibet.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Initially our tour consultant AMY did a fantastic job of coordinating our tour. This included arranging our small group to meet up in Lhasa despite us arriving there on different days. The accommodation was great and AMY followed up during the tour to ensure everything was going smoothly. Great Job AMY !!

On the tour itself we were accompanied by JESSICA for whom I cannot speak highly enough. Her explanations in all the various locations proved she was very knowledgeable. Her English was clear and she was always willing and able to answer any queries. Best of all, there was not a single day when she did not greet us with a happy and friendly smile. Participated in countless photos with us. The tour was unforgettable thanks to AMY, JESSICA and Asia Odyssey Travel.

We are thankful so much again to our agency Asia Odyssey Travel and my dear Amy for the wonderful arrangement and make my trip to Mt Kailash trip possible, really apperiated! We did Kora around Mt.Kailash for 3 days in August as I had been looking forward this trip for quite a long time, even the second day of Kora are hardest to all of us because part of the roads are covered by snowing with long-distance walking and quite high altitude too, so we spent a lot of physical strength on this but it’s totally worth because the views along the way are very incredible, I think we may not have much chance or time to go there again.

Anyway, I really miss Tibet also my dear, hope we will come and see you one day again, many thanks again for all of your help!!!

Tibet has been one of my top travel destinations. As a Buddhism, visiting places tapping into sacred goddess and Mother Nature becomes a dream for me to achieve. At the age of 40, I am so happy I have finally made my dream come true.

The trip planning to Tibet has never been easy for Taiwanese. To grant a permit by a trust worthy travel agent is already a hassle, my first trip plan didn’t get though two years ago. I am glad I found odyssey travel agent for my second try. The whole process started off with zero trust, trip advisor and Facebook helped me to validate its credibility, and further more I had even asked for reference check from the agent. Thanks Kay for being a nice and patient coordinator during this planning process.

With all had prepared, our group has been one of the most peaceful and harmony travel company I have been with. With years of experience, I have not been with a group of >20 until this time, apart from school and company team building. To spend 9 days with who I meet the first time and could probably the only time caused me zero worry with the brilliant tour guide Xiao Gao!

If you’ll and would like to have a joyful and unforgettable journey in Tibet, going up to the Everest base camp is definitely the only option. So is odyssey travel.

We were very impressed with the travel agency Aisa Odyssey Tour and our organizer Amy who arranged all details swiftly without any worries. We took the flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa and were told we need the group visas to board the flight to Lhasa from there, this agency helped us get both of our group visas and Tibet visas sucessfully before the tour began as we expected and smoothly arrived in Lhasa as planned, really apprecaited!

Tibet is great place we did not want to leave because it’s really fabulous, but of course the long drives across the Tibetan plains to Everest base camp and the fantastic blue skies everyday, we spent a wonderful 7 days trip in Tibet with help of Amy and saw some nice monasteries, lakes, mountains and friendly local Tibetans etc.

Overall, our tour guide is very knowledgeable with culture and history of Tibet and always satisfy us as best as she could, our driver is a good person too and was driving in a safe way everywhere. Tibet is such a beatiful place, hope me and my wife could have a chance to come back again someday to spend more time for visiting further place of Tibet like Kailash? I will contact this agency again then, thanks again for making my long-awaited dream came true!
