On the way from the airport to your hotel in Lhasa, you will be able to see the Yarlung Tsangpo/Bhamaputra River (the world's highest altitude river and the (the longest and largest river in Tibet) and the Lhasa River. You will have the rest of the day free to become acclimatized to the high elevation, or if you feel up to going out, you can go to Potala Square to enjoy the many-colored fountain and take some amazing photos of the Potala Palace from the square.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Day2  Lhasa tour - Potala Place, Johkang Temple, Barkor Street

Today we will start off with the fantastic Potala Palace, which historically served as the winter home of the Dalai Lama. It was first used in the 7th century by the 33rd king of Tibet. The most valuable collections in the Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of the former Dalai Lamas and the meditation cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet. After lunch, we will move on to the Jokhang Temple, which was also founded in the 7th century by the 33rd great king of Tibet to promote the Buddhist religion. Inside you can see the statue of the Buddha Sakyamuni as he was at the age of twelve - this is perhaps the most venerated object in Tibetan Buddhism. Around the temple is Barkhor Street where you can perform the "Kora" (a religious circuit around a sacred building or mountain) with pilgrims and locals. The Barkhor market is also a great place to pick up locally made handicrafts and souvenirs.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Day3  Lhasa Tour - Drepung and Sera Monastery

This morning we will visit the Drepung Monastery - one of the great three Gelug monasteries of Tibet. Founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge, on Tosngkhapa's main disciples, the Drepung Monastery is home of Ganden Palace, which formerly served as the Dalai Lama's palace before later moving on to the Potala Palace. In the afternoon we will move on to see another of the great three of the Gelug monasteries in Tibet - the Sera Monastery. Founded in 1419 by another main disciple of Tsongkhapa, Jamchen Chojey, the main attraction of this monastery is the lively scene of the monks debating Buddhist scriptures in the courtyard behind the monastery in the afternoon.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

Day4  Ganden Monastery by Bike (53km, 3-4 hours)

Today's schedule features a bike ride of approximately 53 kilometers to the east to visit the Ganden Monastery – the largest of the six main monasteries of Gelugpa. The most difficult part of our ride today will be climbing up Mt. Wangpo, with its peak elevation of 3800 meters. If you still have the energy, you can perform the "Kora" here by bicycle, taking a 90-minute circuitous ride around the religious sites. On a clear day you will have stunning views of the peak of Mount Nyenchen Thangla and the Kyi-chu Valley below. We will stay overnight in Ganden tonight.

Accommodation:Overnight at local Guest House

Day5  Cycle from Gandan to Lhasa (53km)

Today we will make the return trip to Lhasa by bicycle, with free time for you to explore Lhasa in the afternoon and evening.

Accommodation:Overnight at Lhasa 4-Star hotel

From the airport pickup time to the train station drop of, we enjoyed a five star service. I was welcome in a Tibetan way with Hada and Tibetan greetings, and our guide was careful with my itinerary and flight schedule, very thoughtful.

I had an amazing, memorable trip with Amy/Odyssey: 9 days incl. Lhasa, EBC and Namtso Lake. Amy's service was excellent. From our first contact until after the trip all communication and organisation was very fast, clear and exhaustive. Our guide, Sun, made the whole trip even better. He is a really great, funny and laidback guy, proud Tibetan with very good knowledge of all relevant topics. Take into account that the pronounciation of English by Tibetan people/guides is of a different level than that of native speakers, and when you listen a bit more active than you normally do everything will be clear. The hotels were of a higher standard then expected which was really nice to start and finish the day. I recommend Amy/Odyssey to anyone planning a trip to Tibet! I will definitely go again with them on my next Tibet trip. June was a great time for weather and Tibetan festivities which made trip even more special.

Most of the people go to Tibet for spiritual enlightenment. I don’t see myself a purser of religion. But when I stood in front of Jokhang Temple, watching the numerous pilgrims. I was shocked than I would have imagined. Tibet is a wonderful place from local people to the natural resource. What makes this trip extradinary is our excellent guide. He accompanied us wherever we want to and showed us local spots off the beaten track. He is pretty good at English, always shared interesting stories. I learned a few Tibetan phrases from him. The hotel arranged by our agency is well located. We were able to walk around and found local restaurant easily. Anyway, great experience

With the accompaniment of our experienced driver and guide-Lomsang. I forgot the name of our driver. Terribly sorry. He did a great job. Our guide is fluent in English, we had no problem in communicating. He made us laugh during the long drive and took care of my daughter. We had altitude sickness when we were at the tent of Everest Base Camp, he didn’t sleep well also in order to look after us. He also explained tibetan culture clearly which I find it pretty interesting. We would like to thank him for making our trip in tibet extraordinary. We were lucky to book a tour with Tibet odyssey tours.
