Day1  Arrival in Shanghai
Welcome to Shanghai, China’s most populated city and the second largest city by population in the world! Upon your arrival at the Shanghai Port, airport or train station, your local tour guide will greet you and escort you to your private vehicle to take you to your downtown hotel. You will have the rest of the day free to explore the local area on your own, or you can just rest up and relax from your trip to Shanghai. Feel free to consult with your tour guide for some ideas on what to see and do in the area around your hotel.

Recommended evening activitiy:

Experience the amazing Acrobatics Show, featuring breathtaking performances of traditional Chinese acrobatics. Usual showtimes are 19:30 – 21:00 daily.

Best ways to get to Shanghai:

As Shanghai is a major international travel hub, there are numerous international flights connecting Shanghai with other major cities throughout the world, as well as domestic flights available to and from most cities in China. There are also modern and convenient high-speed trains available from other major cities in China: Beijing (5 – 6 hours travel time), Xian (6 – 7 hours), Hangzhou (1 hour), Suzhou (30 minutes), Huangshan (4 hours) and more.

Accommodation:Overnight in Shanghai

Day2  Shanghai: Yu Garden, Lujiazui, Nanjing Road
Today we will start your exploration of this amazing city with a full day sightseeing tour. We will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel and take you to visit the world-class Shanghai Museum. Rated as one of the “Best Four Museums” of China, the Shanghai Museum has more than 120,000 pieces in its collections, including ancient bronzes, paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, ceramics, jade and much more that trace more than 5,000 years of China’s phenomenal history.

Next up is a visit to Yuyuan Garden, an ancient masterpiece of classical Chinese gardens. First constructed in 1559, Yuyuan consists of beautiful traditional architecture, water features, verdant green plants and rockeries that create an oasis of peaceful calm in the midst of modern Shanghai. Nearby is the Yuyuan Bazaar where you can try some traditional Shanghai snacks and shop for souvenirs and traditional Chinese handicrafts and works of art.

After Yuyuan we will take you to the Lujiazui area to visit the “Eye of Shanghai” – the Shanghai World Financial Center. As one of the world’s tallest buildings, the Shanghai World Financial Center has an observation deck with a glass-walled walkway that will give you a panoramic view of all of Shanghai and the Huangpu River from 474 meters above sea level.

From high above Shanghai to street level, we will move on to another of Shanghai’s popular attractions at Nanjing Road, a shopper’s paradise as well as a great place for a walk to experience the modern and vibrant atmosphere of the city. From Nanjing Road we will travel on to The Bund, which started off as a simple towpath for transporting goods from the river but eventually transformed into a world-class trading district. The Bund is a special area that fully reflects the fusion of Chinese and Western culture and architecture with the stunningly modern buildings of the new Shanghai skyline just across the river.

After today’s tour we will take you back to your hotel for the night.

Recommended evening activity (optional, for an extra charge):

Enjoy a relaxing Huangpu River cruise to see Shanghai’s incredibly beautiful skyline when it is lit up at night.

Accommodation:Overnight in Shanghai

Day3  Shanghai Disneyland Park
After a nice breakfast at your hotel, we will take you by private car to the Shanghai Disneyland Park – Disney’s first resort park in Mainland China where the Magic Kingdom meets the Middle Kingdom. What makes this Disney theme park special is the meticulous care given to the melding of Disney’s culture with traditional Chinese culture. Honoring the company’s promise that the park would be “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese” makes it a fascinating place to visit not just for children but for travelers of all ages. To be sure though, all of the iconic Disney imagery is here, including the massive Enchanted Storybook Castle and all of the costumed Disney characters such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse along with the many rides and attractions similar to those found at all Disney parks worldwide, but with Chinese characteristics. You will have the full day here to explore all of the magic that Disney has to offer, and at the end of the day we will pick you up again by private car to transfer you back to your hotel for the night.

Accommodation:Overnight in Shanghai

Day4  Departure from Shanghai
Today you will have free time before your departure from Shanghai. If time allows, you may want to explore a few places based on your own personal interests. You might want to check out the old alleyways of Shanghai at Tianzifang (田子坊) or Xintiandi (新天地). If you are interested in Buddhist culture, the peaceful surroundings of the Jade Buddha Temple await your visit. If you want to learn more about the history and development of Shanghai, you might want to visit Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center with its interesting exhibits. For a look at colonial Shanghai, you can see the former French Concession Area. And if you have an evening departure, you might want to take a trip to the outskirts of Shanghai to see one of the ancient water villages such as Zhujiajiao or Tongli. Please feel free to ask our friendly travel consultants or your tour guide for recommendations on how to spend this last day in Shanghai.

At the appropriate time, your tour guide and driver will escort you to the Shanghai Port, airport or train station for your cruise ship, flight or train on to your next destination.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the service. Our travel consultant Monica is very responsive and helpful. She responded to our questions promptly and willing to accommodate my request. Tibet tour is very nice and memorable. We got well along with other travel members and became very good friends. The only thing I do mind is the condition of the public toilets, hard to describe, you should see them by yourself.

Initially our tour consultant AMY did a fantastic job of coordinating our tour. This included arranging our small group to meet up in Lhasa despite us arriving there on different days. The accommodation was great and AMY followed up during the tour to ensure everything was going smoothly. Great Job AMY !!

On the tour itself we were accompanied by JESSICA for whom I cannot speak highly enough. Her explanations in all the various locations proved she was very knowledgeable. Her English was clear and she was always willing and able to answer any queries. Best of all, there was not a single day when she did not greet us with a happy and friendly smile. Participated in countless photos with us. The tour was unforgettable thanks to AMY, JESSICA and Asia Odyssey Travel.
