Welcome to Shanghai, China’s most populated city and the second largest city by population in the world! Upon your arrival at the Shanghai Port, airport or train station, your local tour guide will greet you and escort you to your private vehicle to take you to your downtown hotel. You will have the rest of the day free to explore the local area on your own, or you can just rest up and relax from your trip to Shanghai. Feel free to consult with your tour guide for some ideas on what to see and do in the area around your hotel.

Recommended evening activitiy:

Experience the amazing Acrobatics Show, featuring breathtaking performances of traditional Chinese acrobatics. Usual showtimes are 19:30 – 21:00 daily.

Best ways to get to Shanghai:

As Shanghai is a major international travel hub, there are numerous international flights connecting Shanghai with other major cities throughout the world, as well as domestic flights available to and from most cities in China. There are also modern and convenient high-speed trains available from other major cities in China: Beijing (5 – 6 hours travel time), Xian (6 – 7 hours), Hangzhou (1 hour), Suzhou (30 minutes), Huangshan (4 hours) and more.

Accommodation:Overnight in Shanghai

Day2  Shanghai: Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, Lujiazui
For your escorted tour today, we will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel and take you to visit the world-class Shanghai Museum. Rated as one of the “Best Four Museums” of China, the Shanghai Museum has more than 120,000 pieces in its collections, including ancient bronzes, paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, ceramics, jade and much more that trace more than 5,000 years of China’s phenomenal history.

Next up is a visit to Yuyuan Garden, an ancient masterpiece of classical Chinese gardens. First constructed in 1559, Yuyuan consists of beautiful traditional architecture, water features, verdant green plants and rockeries that create an oasis of peaceful calm in the midst of modern Shanghai. Nearby is the Yuyuan Bazaar where you can try some traditional Shanghai snacks and shop for souvenirs and traditional Chinese handicrafts and works of art.

After Yuyuan we will take you to the Lujiazui area to visit the “Eye of Shanghai” – the Shanghai World Financial Center. As one of the world’s tallest buildings, the Shanghai World Financial Center has an observation deck with a glass-walled walkway that will give you a panoramic view of all of Shanghai and the Huangpu River from 474 meters above sea level.

From high above Shanghai to street level, we will move on to another of Shanghai’s popular attractions at Nanjing Road, a shopper’s paradise as well as a great place for a walk to experience the modern and vibrant atmosphere of the city. From Nanjing Road we will travel on to The Bund, which started off as a simple towpath for transporting goods from the river but eventually transformed into a world-class trading district. The Bund is a special area that fully reflects the fusion of Chinese and Western culture and architecture with the stunningly modern buildings of the new Shanghai skyline just across the river.

After today’s tour we will take you back to your hotel for the night.

Recommended evening activity (optional, for an extra charge):

Enjoy a relaxing Huangpu River cruise to see Shanghai’s incredibly beautiful skyline when it is lit up at night.

It was the first time we went to Tibet. Too much things we need to arrange, itinerary, travel date, tickets, permit…We were lucky to have had Kay handle our plan. She was professional, efficient and dealt everything in order. Our trip went smoothly as planned. We visited Lhasa, yamdroke lake, Everest, the beauty of Tibet was beyond my expectation except the altitude sickness.

My best friend and I were looking forward to taking the train ride from Xining to Lhasa. Unfortunately, until the day we landed in Chengdu, our tour operator (different from Asia Odyssey) was unable to purchase the tickets for us. I contacted Danny after Googling and he was extremely helpful. Within 3 hours of contact, he had our train tickets. They were delivered to our hotel the next day before we left for Xining, and until we boarded the train, he was in contact with us to ensure that everything went smoothly. Thanks to Danny, we got to experience this once in a lifetime journey! Highly recommended for excellent and fast response! Thanks, Danny!

We are thankful so much again to our agency Asia Odyssey Travel and my dear Amy for the wonderful arrangement and make my trip to Mt Kailash trip possible, really apperiated! We did Kora around Mt.Kailash for 3 days in August as I had been looking forward this trip for quite a long time, even the second day of Kora are hardest to all of us because part of the roads are covered by snowing with long-distance walking and quite high altitude too, so we spent a lot of physical strength on this but it’s totally worth because the views along the way are very incredible, I think we may not have much chance or time to go there again.

Anyway, I really miss Tibet also my dear, hope we will come and see you one day again, many thanks again for all of your help!!!
