After the thrilling landing at the airport, we will begin our trek on to the small village of Phakding, which should take us about 3 hours. It is a fascinating hike as we can observe how the local Nepali people have adapted to living at high elevations. Phakding lies in the Dudh Kosi river valley at an elevation of 2610 meters (8563 feet). After our hike, we will check into a local guesthouse for the night.

We will pass through beautiful Himalayan pine and cedar forests along with some spectacular mountain peak views along the way, including our first glimpse of Mount Everest. The village of Namche is a historic trading post where Nepalese and Tibetan traders exchange salt, dried meat and textiles and it remains a main trading hub for the area for both Himalayan and lowland merchants. After today’s hike, we will check into a local guesthouse for the night.

Accommodation:Overnight at Namche Bazaar

Day4  Namche Bazaar – Everest View Hotel – Namche Bazaar
Today as we become acclimatized to the higher elevation, we will take a short hike to the Syangboche Airport (3780 meters), which is an unpaved airstrip and reportedly the highest airport in the world. From there we will continue climbing on to reach the Everest View Hotel for fantastic panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Tawache and many of the other highest peaks of the Himalayan mountain range.

Wonderful moments in Tibet thanks to Odyssey Travel. It was all so well organized thanks to Amy who had been so professional and supportive.

The beauty of landscapes and people in Tibet were simply mesmerizing. Our guide and driver were amazing companions for this travel. The Kora of Mount Khalash was the highlight of this wonderful journey. I learned a lot about the culture of Tibet.

Thank you Odissey!

Most beautiful place to go! Tour guide very funny and knowledgeable. Tour guide very good on taking picture. Suggest more site seeing and less temple. Suggest to eat hot pot every night. We reach the tallest point of 5248. Make sure not to fall to sleep. Make sure to take high altitude sickness bill and travel sickness bills before going. This trip is not for everyone, but for those whose are health and want to have some advantages. Make sure to bring flu and cold medicine with you since you can get sick very easily during winter. Very cold during the winter and make sure to bring enough cloths. Bring lotions, sun glasses and gloves. Make hot water every night in hotel and put it into the drink bottle to warm your bed. Best if you take the train to go in and plane to get out. But check the weather first, if snowing make sure to take the train. Once snowing, all plane will stop flying. Most beautiful place to go! This trip has been part of our family’s bragging card at get togethers and parties ever since we stepped foot out of Tibet. But it would have not been without the preparation and help from Xiao Yu, our tour planner from Chengdu. In addition our tour guide Julia was extremely informative and a joy to be around for those 8 days. The hotels were extremely nice and the places along the way were magnificent. Our family felt very welcomed to the area and we enjoyed the endless insight into the beautiful culture and religion (It helped out the person taking world history next year in our family). We would definitely recommend this trip to other family and friends as it is worth every single petty bit of the high elevation fatigue.
