If it is your first time to visit Hong Kong, you may want to spend more time there to completely immerse yourself in this fascinating city. Usually we recommend a stay of only one or two days to just hit the main highlights, such as Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen Fishing Village and the Stanley Market before moving on to Mainland China. From Hong Kong, you can choose from many gateway cities in Mainland China before moving on to Tibet. We recommend 4 or 5 days to explore around Lhasa to allow enough time to visit the Potala Palace, the sacred monasteries and nearby holy lakes. If you have more time, you can extend your visit to Tibet with a trip to Shigatse (add 2 days), Mount Everest (add 4 days), Namtso Lake (add 1 day), Nyingchi (add 3 days) as some examples.
There is neither direct flight nor train from Hong Kong to Tibet. Travelers have to transfer from Hong Kong to China Mainland to catch a flight or train to Tibet. In order to get acclimatized to the high altitude in Tibet better, it is suggested to stay in China Mainland for one day and fly or take a train to Tibet the next day. If you want flight only itinerary, it is suggested to fly to Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing or Shanghai first, and then take another flight to Lhasa. If you want a train trip, Xining is the best place to board on a train to Lhasa, because a Xining-Lhasa train ride takes only 22 hours and allows you to see the beautiful sceneries and lovely wild animals along the railway.
Enjoying a reputation of the Oriental Pearl, Hong Kong is absolutely worth an exploration. If you are traveling with your kids, the Disneyland and Ocean Park are the best destinations. If you are hunting for luxury brands, the Causeway Bay and Central are must-visit places. If you want to explore the old Hong Kong, Mong Kok, Tin Shui Wai and Island District are the right places for you.
Besides, there are also various museums, Hiking paths and bars in Hong Kong. Almost every factor of an international metropolis can be found in Hong Kong. However, please note that you need to take a good rest in order to better acclimatize the high altitude in Tibet.
Yes, it takes around 1 hour to go to Macau from Hong Kong by bus or ferry. Before the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge was built in 2018, most tourists take a ferry to go to Macau from Hong Kong. More and more tourists take a bus through the 55-kilometer long bridge to Macau now. The sea view is excellent during the bus trip.
Popular tourist attractions in Macau include Ruins of St. Paul's, Macau Tower and Macau Museum. It is suggested to spend more time at the Ruins of St. Paul’s, where you can admire exquisite relief sculpture.
You may want to visit some casinos in Macau, it is important to avoid getting addicted.
I had an amazing, memorable trip with Amy/Odyssey: 9 days incl. Lhasa, EBC and Namtso Lake. Amy's service was excellent. From our first contact until after the trip all communication and organisation was very fast, clear and exhaustive. Our guide, Sun, made the whole trip even better. He is a really great, funny and laidback guy, proud Tibetan with very good knowledge of all relevant topics. Take into account that the pronounciation of English by Tibetan people/guides is of a different level than that of native speakers, and when you listen a bit more active than you normally do everything will be clear. The hotels were of a higher standard then expected which was really nice to start and finish the day. I recommend Amy/Odyssey to anyone planning a trip to Tibet! I will definitely go again with them on my next Tibet trip. June was a great time for weather and Tibetan festivities which made trip even more special.
Thanks for Tibet odyssey. Me and my friend had an unforgettable and amazing 9 days tour in Tibet in June 2019. During those 9days, our tour guide Ms Gao hong were really responsible, helpful and reliable, he arranged all of the schedule and help us to go through every single day smoothly, safely and comfortable, even when we in the highest place where is altitude 5200m, we didn’t feel any afraid and fearful. He explained and shared lots of history, knowledges and culture of Tibet with us, odyssey not only helped us to experience the amazing views but also delivered lots of knowledges to us.
Ms Kay helped us to deal with lots of problems and offered the kindest advice and service. Giving us flexible arrangements and respond our question effectively.
Fully recommend Asia odyssey!!!!

We had a wonderful 8 days trip in Tibet with agency Odyssey travel’s organization and thanks too to our operator Amy’s help from begining to the end. Also, our guide she is an excellent guide, she is passionate and knowledgeable about Tibetan culture and religion, she taught us more than we thought. Thank you again Amy for your patience and all the follow-ups when I had questions even at night local time in China, it was great to have you as my tour operator. I feel very lucky to have accomplished my goal to the Mr. Everest, thanks for making this possible for us : )
From the airport pickup time to the train station drop of, we enjoyed a five star service. I was welcome in a Tibetan way with Hada and Tibetan greetings, and our guide was careful with my itinerary and flight schedule, very thoughtful.
The tour guide and diver are pretty kind and zealous! And all the stories the guide told are very attractive as well. Hope next time visiting there, they can entertain us again.
