Day2  Chengdu: Panda Base, Renmin Park, Jinli Street
This morning we will pick you up from your hotel by private vehicle to visit the lovely Giant Pandas at the Chengdu Giant Panda Research Base & Breeding Center, which is the number one must-do thing in Chengdu. We will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel and drive about 30 minutes to the panda base to see giant pandas as they are being fed, playing with each other, climbing trees, etc. There are many different enclosures for pandas of different ages, from baby pandas to 1-year old pandas to teenage pandas and older - more than 100 Giant Pandas live here at the center. Beautiful tree-lined walking paths lead you from one enclosure to the next so it’s an enjoyable morning spending time with the pandas. Don’t miss the opportunity to see panda mothers nursing their cubs in the nursery rooms. There is also a very informative Panda Museum filled with interesting exhibits and everything you need to know about these wonderful creatures.

After meeting the pandas, we’ll visit the sacred Wenshu Temple, which is hidden in a peaceful location right in the middle of modern Chengdu. This temple is the most popular Buddhist temple in the Chengdu region. With its beautiful, traditional and ancient architecture, the atmosphere is very calm and quiet, with some people praying, right in the midst of a busy and modern urban city. The grounds have a small garden and the monastery is very colorfully decorated, making it a fascinating place to visit.

After the Wenshu Temple, we will experience the leisurely pace of the life of the locals at Renmin Park and Jinli Street. Renmin (People’s) Park is where the locals go for a relaxing walk, to meet friends or have a cup of tea. Jinli Street, by contrast, is a street mainly for tourists but it does offer a view of the way things were in ancient times. You can wander along this traditional old street to absorb the special atmosphere of Chengdu while tasting the local snacks, watching street performers, etc.

After your visit to Old Jinli Street, we will take you back to your hotel.

Optional Recommended Evening Activity:
Watch a wonderful performance of the traditional Sichuan Opera at the Shufengyayun Opera House, including folk opera, face changing, fire spitting, and rolling lights performances and much more. Usual showtime is 20:00 – 21:30.

Accommodation:Overnight in Chengdu

Day3  Chengdu – Leshan Giant Buddha– Mt. Emei
This morning we will take you on the pleasant 2-hour drive from Chengdu to the LeShan Giant Buddha, the largest carved statue of the Buddha in the world. Sitting at the confluence of three rivers, the Giant Buddha was carved into the cliffside of Lingyun Mountain more than 1,200 years ago in the hopes that it would help to suppress flooding in the area. You can enjoy a spectacular view of the gargantuan statue as you walk down the narrow staircase to the foot of the Buddha.

After visiting the amazing Giant Buddha, we will drive on to Mt. Emei, which is about 30 minutes away by car. We will visit the largest temple on the mountain, Baoguo Temple, before checking into our hotel to spend the night at the foot of holy Mt. Emei.

Accommodation:Overnight at the foot of Mt. Emei

Day4  Mt. Emei - Chengdu
Mt. Emei is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China and it is traditionally held as a place of enlightenment. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1996. We will take an eco-car in the Emei Scenic Area to Leidongpin and then hike on to Jieyin Hall, where we will take a cable car to the Golden Summit (elevation 3077 meters). Here at the highest peak of the mountain you will be amazed by the awe-inspiring view of Huazang Temple and witness a breathtaking sea of clouds if the weather conditions are right.

After visiting the summit, we will descend to the cable car to go back up to Wannian Temple, which is located midway up the mountain. Here we will take in the most beautiful landscape of Mt. Emei from Qingyin Pavilion as we hike from Wannian Temple to Wuxiangang, where we will meet the car to take us on the scenic drive back to Chengdu.

I had an amazing, memorable trip with Amy/Odyssey: 9 days incl. Lhasa, EBC and Namtso Lake. Amy's service was excellent. From our first contact until after the trip all communication and organisation was very fast, clear and exhaustive. Our guide, Sun, made the whole trip even better. He is a really great, funny and laidback guy, proud Tibetan with very good knowledge of all relevant topics. Take into account that the pronounciation of English by Tibetan people/guides is of a different level than that of native speakers, and when you listen a bit more active than you normally do everything will be clear. The hotels were of a higher standard then expected which was really nice to start and finish the day. I recommend Amy/Odyssey to anyone planning a trip to Tibet! I will definitely go again with them on my next Tibet trip. June was a great time for weather and Tibetan festivities which made trip even more special.

Most of the people go to Tibet for spiritual enlightenment. I don’t see myself a purser of religion. But when I stood in front of Jokhang Temple, watching the numerous pilgrims. I was shocked than I would have imagined. Tibet is a wonderful place from local people to the natural resource. What makes this trip extradinary is our excellent guide. He accompanied us wherever we want to and showed us local spots off the beaten track. He is pretty good at English, always shared interesting stories. I learned a few Tibetan phrases from him. The hotel arranged by our agency is well located. We were able to walk around and found local restaurant easily. Anyway, great experience

We went to Tibet at June 2019,our tour was arrange by Amy from Chengdu, she is very kind and helpful, we have a lot of questions before the trip, she can answer them with full of patience.

First day, our driver and tour guide waited at airport and drive us to our lovely hotel (4 star himalaya hotel). the tour guide Mr Ba Sang from Tibet is very caring and helpful throughout the journey. Everything is well planned and taken care of. He brings us to nice local restaurants and have a good taste of local cuisine. In temple, we given detail explanation on the culture and explain to us the practice of the people. Experience at Everest Base camp is unforgettable, we able to see the remarkable view of everest mountain.

Tibet is a place you will want to visit again and again.

Driver Mr Xia is a good, responsible and steady driver. He drives us safely to all locations.

Hopefully next time we can join the Ling Zhi trip to see flowers in spring time.

Highly recommended this tour and this travel agents for their excellent service. We are happy to join on this tour.

We booked the tour with Asia Odyssey after surveying few tour companies as it’s the cheapest among those with excellent reviews. Amy was the agent that contacted us and keep updating of our Tibet visa applications and train tickets arrangement. She is really helpful. She even came to our hotel in Chengdu in order to pass the physical train ticket to us despite we were staying nearby airport, yet she did not ask for any tips or car fare from us. Upon arriving at Lhasa, Amy still cared for us if we have any altitude sickness. She provided all the information we needed to know and get us into contact with the tour guide in Lhasa as well. The tour is superb. We viewed the Mount Everest from far during sunset and sun rise. It’s a lifetime experience never to be missed. Also, the tour guide 大海哥 is very responsible and fun, he make our hectic journey a full of fun, yet with lots of information regarding the history of Lhasa, Monasteries, Potala Palace and many more...The driver is steady, his driving skill is superb The journey to EBC is super winding yet no one had any car sickness Upon leaving Lhasa, Amy still followed up with us and we thank her well.
